আমিন মোহাম্মদ গ্রুপ কর্তৃক প্রান্তিক জনগোষ্ঠীর জন্য বিনামূল্যে দুপুরের খাবার আয়োজন

They say there’s no such thing as a free lunch, but Shukkur Ali, a rickshaw puller by profession, would tell you otherwise. For the last two years, Shukkur Ali only takes passengers in the Dhanmondi area in the midday because he wants to make sure he gets his free lunch from Satmasjid Road around that time. Shukkur is not alone in this as hundreds of others from a similar socio-economic background swarm to this place just beside Star Kabab on Satmasjid Road, to have their meal. The meals are supplied by the Amin Mohammad Foundation, a private charitable foundation funded by the real-estate and construction company Amin Mohammad Group. The foundation provides enough food to feed 3000 people every day as the staff cook 12 drums of khichuri and each drum can feed 250 people, said Md Ibrahim Khalil, Senior Executive of Public Relations at the Amin Mohammad Foundation. “Nothing but the satisfaction of serving humanity is at the core of this service,” he said, regarding the reason behind the initiative, which began in Dhaka two years ago. As for the food itself, people say it is on par with restaurant and hotel food. Amin Mohammad Foundation’s Head of Media Gazi Ahmad Ullah told the Dhaka Tribune that the free lunch service is also available at a mosque, a madrasa, and an old home in Ashulia Model Town. The model town itself is owned by the Amin Mohammad Group. According to Gazi, the Foundation has been serving free meals in many areas outside Dhaka for the last seven years.
